One’s first impression of word „sněhulák“ is that it combines sníh (cocain) and hulit (smoke) but this is wrong. When the snow first falls, it’s too dry to make a good snow man. It has to be moist enough to stick together and be stacked. Since snow is composed of millions of little „sněhové vločky“, it can take a long time to get them all arranged into what passes for a „sněhulák“.
When you are done, you can go somewhere warm and maybe eat some „sněhové pečivo“, or „pusinky“ or meringue. But – don’t eat all your carrots or burn up all your coal. You’ll need it for sněhuláks nose and eyes.
